Happy Halloween HNT!

Lori and I went to the VFW post last Saturday night for a Halloween Party. Good friends, good food, open bar and we danced more than either of us danced in many years. In short, we had a ball! You can read more about it here.

Don't I make a handsome nerd?

SMILE!

Caught off guard.

Here's a few shots of my baby getting down.

Checking out Mother Nature's, uh, uh, well, you know.

Mother Nature caught her so she moved in and goosed Lori's ass.

Then there was the threesome with Batman and Robin.

Stop by and check out Lori. She posted this week.

Here's a few more shots of the fun.

HAPPY HNT HALLOWEEN Y'ALL!

I changed my email address, so check my profile for the new one.

I Switched!

Yes, I switched. Today I switched from Cablevision (e.g., OpOnline) to Verison FiOS.

The tech that installed FiOS wasn't that knowledgeable about some of the more intricate details I needed to set up my email (e.g., POP & SMTP), but did the job well. He made a couple of calls to someone and gave me the info I needed.

I was also confused about how to get the promised internet speed, but after a few tries, I figured it out on their web site. Now my download and upload speeds are at least three times faster with FiOS than with cable. That's going to make it a lot easier to view the videos and pictures on those "educational" sites. ;-)

Now I just have to figure out were my favorite channels are on the TV. Finding the "educational" ;-) channels was easy. Now I just have to figure out what station carries my girl, the Charmed Ones. I love that show. :-)

Oh yea. I saved about $50 a month by switching and now have a multi room DVR to boot. The DVR is like TiVo and saves about 200 hours of programs that can be played from any TV.

Man, that's a lot of "educational" programs. :-P

Halloween Party

Lori and I went to a Halloween party at the VFW post last night. We had a great time: DJ, open bar, buffet, door prizes and lots of very cool costumes. Well worth the $40 a head.

Sorry to say, my baby is a bit under the weather today. I think it was a result of the open bar.

She stirred around 11:30am and went back to sleep until 4:30pm. I made her some soup and an onion bagel with cream cheese and chives and she had a root beer. I made dinner for me around 6:00pm; tuna & crab meat casserole. She even had some of that. Now she's up walking around doing things.

Who would have thought I discovered a cure for a hangover.

FREE FOOD ALERT!!!!!!

Some guy stole a base in the baseball playoffs last night, so Taco Bell is giving everyone in the US of A a free taco on October 30th between 2:00pm and 5:00pm. I swear this is true because I saw the president of Taco Bell say it in an interview on TV.

So next Tuesday when you get your free taco, you'll know who to thank.

No, not the president of Taco Bell.

THAT'D BE ME!

Hey, I'm the one that told you about this, so it only fair that I get the credit.

What, may you ask, do I want you to do to show your thanks?

Well, DUH!

You know me well enough by now, so that should be obvious.

Edit: If you don't believe me, here's the link to Major League Baseball web site that explains it.

What a dope I am!

As you can see by the count-down counter in the side bar to the right, Lori and I are scheduled to be in Las Vegas in 23 days on November 16th. Everything was set. Reservations were made with the hotel, airlines and rental car. The people we are going to visit when we're there, (Tara and her beau) had us penciled in on their calender so their weekend would be free to jointly find out if Sin City really does live up to the name.

That is until Tara asked me to confirm when we were going to be there. It seems that I left a comment on her blog stating we would be there a week earlier, 11/9 - 11/13. She even found the email I sent her confirming the dates of 11/16 - 11/19.

WTF?

I knew it couldn't be her that was wrong, because I'm a guy and we fuck up things like dates and times A LOT! I also know that my files are organized meticulously, so now I had to confirm the date discrepancy.

I got out of bed (check my email in the AM with my laptop) and check my meticulously organized files for the reservation paperwork for the airlines, hotel and rental car.

I located the paperwork right where I'd left in the meticulously organized pile on the left. I checked the hotel confirmation. It was for 11/9 - 11/13 just as I said in my comment. I checked the airline reservation. WHOOPS! I fucked up! The reservation for the airline was for a week later; 11/16 - 11/19.

I'm bad, because the rental car was reserved for 11/16 - 11/19 too.

So I get on the phone to the hotel and see if they can change the reservation. NOPE! All booked up!

AW CRAP!

No choice but to try and change the airline and rental car reservations. I didn't have much hope for that at this late a date. I knew even if by some miracle the airline would change the reservations, it would cost me a pretty penny to change them at this late a date.

I get on the phone with Southwest and explain my problem to the reservation agent. He checked the records and low and behold, he was able to change the reservations to the same weekend as the hotel reservations! He even saved me $26 because I'm flying about and hour earlier each way.

Next I called the rental car company and they changed the reservation without a problem.

So, Tara, we will definitely be arriving in Las Vegas on Friday 11/9 and leaving on Monday the 13th.

Sin City here we come! I can't wait!

How I ever fucked this up I'll never knows.

PS
If your in the area on those dates and want to hang out, let me know, K? We can find out together if Sin City really does live up to it's reputation. ;-)

Want to see my stitches?

Well duh! That's a silly question.

Last Thursday I had a piece of shrapnel removed from my leg. The doctor told me to keep the stitches dry for a couple of days, which I did. I finally took a shower last night. First one since the surgery. Lori wanted me to wait until today to shower after she left, but I needed her to get some good pictures of my boo boo. We even took a couple of videos. I'll post those after I've edited them.

Lori has this thing for my pheromones and she says they smell better the longer I wait between showers. I think I'd start to have BO, but not according to her. I smell wonderful. Who'd a thunk it! A girl that doesn't want me to shower and likes it when I smell. LOL

I did have to shave though. She complains about my beard scratching her if I let it go for more than two days.

Whoops, side tracked again. I do that a lot, don't I?

Here's a shot I took of the stitches. I thought it was interesting how the skin was pulled tightly together causing a lump of flesh.

Here's a side view that Lori took.

Now for a close up! Just three stitches. I never saw this method of tying a suture before and believe you me, I've had a lot of them!

Here's the wound all nicely protected by some Bacitracin Topical Antibiotics Ointment and a Band-Aid Brand Large Adhesive Comfort Flex 2 7/8 in. x 4 in. Pad.

If you look closely, you'll see what looks like a dent on the bottom of my calf. This wound is probably where the shrapnel came from.

I hope you enjoyed yourself!

I survived the surgery

In yesterday's post I told you about the minor surgery I was having in the afternoon to remove a piece of shrapnel from my leg. It's been there for 39 years, but started bothering me about a month ago, so asked them to remove it.

I arrived at the hospital and reported in at Section 23. The woman told me to wait in the patient lounge. I started to walk away when she called to me and asked me my name. Guess that made sense, huh? I think it's a good idea if the doctor knows I'm here so we can get started.

I went into the lounge, sat down and started reading the newspaper I brought. If it's one thing I've learned, its when you have an appointment we the VA, bring something to occupy yourself. As like all government entities, they move at a snails pace. Almost immediately a male nurse came in the room to confirm who I was and to tell me as soon as the room was cleaned up from the last patient, we would get started.

I went back to my news paper and waited and waited and waited and waited. I got about half way through it when the nurse came back in and asked me if anyone had come in to talk to me.

"Nope," I replied.

He left and I waited and waited and waited and waited some more.

Finally a doctor came in pushing a cart with a computer on it. No more paper charts. It's all stored in the computer system. Which is really a good thing. It means that where ever I go in the VA system, my records are always available.

He introduce himself and told me that he was the assistant to the chief surgeon and would be assisting him during surgery. Cool! Got the big guy.

He then asked me a few questions about my medical history and read me the list of possible complications. By looking at what they had to do, he said he knew the possibility of complications was remote, but said he had to tell them to me anyway; rules you know.

He mentioned the typical things like infection. It's obvious that when you cut into someone that there is always a possibility of that. Then there was the bleeding. Well, duh! Your cutting my leg open so that's obvious. But the risk of dying from this struck me as kind of strange. I'm not sure how that could happen, but I suppose if my leg got infected and fell off, I might bleed to death in my sleep. I told him I understood and signed the electronic signature pad consent form he handed me.

He left and when he got into the hall, a doctor in scrubs walked up to him and the nurse and they chatted. Probably about what needed to be done. The nurse took the cart from the assistant and both doctors walked away. The nurse walked back into the room and told me to hang on for a little while more.

By now I'd been there about a half hour and almost finished with the paper. Wonder what was taking so long? Oh well, it's typical VA procedure. So I went back to my paper and waited and waited and waited some more.

Finally the nurse came in the lounge and told me they were ready. I followed him into the same room I was in two years ago when I had the polyp between my ass and balls removed by the "...very good-looking petite young lady Dr. O’Hara." I was a bit disappointed that it wouldn't be her again. She was a babe and you know how I like the babes. :-)

The nurse had me remove my pants (good thing I wore clean underwear) and my shoes and socks. He said I might get blood on them if I didn't remove them. Man, the doctor wasn't kidding about the bleeding, was he.

About then a young new young man and a good looking young woman walked into the room. (No Lori, I don't think she was checking out my package, but a guy can dream can't he? LOL) They introduced themselves. The young man an intern from Stony Brook University Medical School. (All of the interns and residents from the medical school come to this VA hospital to gain experience. They are supervised by the VA doctors, so it's no big deal, to me anyway.)

The young woman was the surgeon. Cool! She was a very pretty with sandy blond hair and a great body. Her tits weren't that big, but I guess I can't complain, because it could have been the old guy. Anyway, she asked me a few questions (one was were the shrapnel was) and then asked me how I got it. All three of them seemed fascinated by my explanation. She looked at me a said, "My father was in Vietnam." Oh well, now I'm a father figure. :-(

I asked the doctor if I could have the shrapnel, but she said no, that they had to send it to pathology, but if there was more than one piece, I could take my pick and keep one. Man, I was so hoping for a couple of nice pieces to add to my collection of shrapnel that I've had removed over the years. I also asked her if I could at least take a picture of it. Sure she said.

Can I take pictures of the surgery? They all said no problem and that this was a first for them. Cool I thought. I'll get a lot of good and bloody pictures to post here.

The doctor cleaned off my leg with betadine then covered it with these blue drapes.

Right after I took that shot my camera battery went dead. FUCK ME!!! I knew I should have charged it! I tried taking more shots, but no use, the battery was dead.

We all chatted during the surgery. I told more of the story about getting wounded, the 35 wounds I received from head to toe and the 500-600 stitches it took to close them up. Made me feel good that they took an interest.

The nurse told me about a friend of his that served in Vietnam at a base in Danang. His base was over run by the VC four times while he was there. The experience really affected him and it was just recently that he could fly on a plane again. So his friended was coming to visit him. They will be going to Washington DC to see Arlington Cemetery, the Marine Memorial and the Wall.

Someone mentioned yesterday that since I asked for boobie pictures to help me feel better after my surgery, that maybe the nurse would show me hers. LOL Since the nurse was a man, that wouldn't help. But since the doctor was a woman....... :-)

No, she didn't show me her boobs, but I did get a few peeks down her scrub top when she bent over to work. Then I got a peek of her pantie top when she reached up to point at something she needed from the supply cabinet. FYI, her bra and panties matched. They were a pretty shade of brown. :-P

Yes, I know I'm a horn dog and a bad boy, but I can't help myself. It's just a burden I've learned to live with. :-)

Every once in a while I'd pick my head up and take a look at what was going on. A few shiny tools around the bloody incision in my leg.

The doctor found the shrapnel and took it out. It looked like a red round ball about 3/8 inch around (about the size of the end of your pinky finger). She she that it was covered in fibrous tissue. That the body does that to isolate it so it can't contaminate you. The body is smart like that.

She flushed the incision with saline and then asked me to take a look. A nice slice about an inch or so long in the side of my calf and a nice shade of red inside. Next it was time to sew me up. She did a few stitches all the while explaining to the intern what she was doing and why. Very interesting. Then she told him to try it. I don't think this guy had ever done that before. He looked so nervous and didn't even know what tools to use. Wasn't he paying close enough attention to what the doctor was doing? He finished his stitch and then the nurse covered it with a bandage.

I got dressed and was about to leave when the nurse stopped me, shook my hand and thanked me for serving in Vietnam. I thanked him and walked away with just a bit more bounce in my step. It always brings a smile to my face when someone says that.

Here's a picture I took of it this morning of the bandaged area after my camera battery was charged.

Did you notice the blood through the bandage? I was bleeding ya know. And I did get stitches. So how about some more sympathy boobie pictures to help take my mind off of the pain and agony?

Two beautiful women were kind enough to send me pictures, Tara and Bunny. I loved them girls! Rob didn't send me a picture of his boobs (thanks Rob!), but he did give a link to a hot video. Thank you all so much. I feel better already. :-)

Keep the boobies coming please! I don't feel all that much better. :-(

Minor Surgery HNT

This afternoon I'm going to the VA Hospital to have a piece of shrapnel removed from my leg.

shrap·nel n. shrapnel
1. Fragments from an exploded artillery shell, mine, or bomb.

They will taking it from here, the lower outside of my left calf.

I adjusted the brightness and contrast to try and make it clearer.

If you've been around here for a while, you know that I was wounded in Vietnam by a claymore mine. There was only so much of the shrapnel they could remove, so I am full of the shit from literally head to toe. Here's some pictures of a few other pieces they've removed from me.

I can't wait to see what the new piece of shrapnel will look like. I wonder if they'll let me keep it to add to my collection.

If your interested in more of my stories about my time in Vietnam, check out one of my other blogs.

HAPPY HNT!

PS
Ladies, if you feel sorry for me in the least, you'll send me a few boobie pictures to take my mind off of my pain.

PSS
If your a guy, I don't want to see your boobies. Send me pictures of chicks boobies or links to where I can see them.

PSS
Keep in mind that I'll probably even get stitches. :-(

I finally have a vanity!

The vanity, medicine chest and light I ordered for my master bathroom on August 7th finally came in. 3-4 weeks my ass! Last week Frank, my contractor for the bathroom remodeling, picked them up for me and installed them last Thursday. The plumber came on Friday and hooked it up. I've been without a sink in either bathroom for two months, so it felt good to finally have one of them working again.

The tile store was going to charge me $200 to truck them to me, but Frank offered to pick them up and save me the money. He even offered to take me to a wholesale nursery near him next Spring. He had a resale numbers so can get me the shrubs and bushes I need cheap! I just have to meet him there and he'll load up what I want on his truck and bring them to my house. I assume he'll plant them for me. Of course it will cost me to plant them, but I still expect it to be cheaper than the landscaper.

I highly recommend Frank, so if you live on Long Island, let me know and I'll give you his number.

Here's the light, medicine chest and vanity. The top is marble. I still have to get the sealer and seal it to protect it from stains.

This picture shows the color closer than the first one.

I hung the towel ring Saturday and mucked up the top with the normal clutter of the things we use daily. I bought the light house night light at the apple festival on Saturday.

This is a view opposite the vanity. This shows the tile color better than the other shots.

Now all I have left to do in this bathroom is have the shower door installed. I was waiting for everything else to get finished before installing it, just in case one of the workman got careless. It's not worth risking a $750 shower door just to hurry things a long.

I'm also still trying to get the cabinet maker to get me my vanity top for the half bath. I finally tracked him down and he "swears" the guy making the top told him he'd deliver it 5 weeks ago. He has my sink and $300, so I really want it done. I know he's just giving me the run around, but I still have to at least try. Any ideas what recourse I have?
